Why this sinking funds tracker works

The bills that wreck a budget usually aren’t surprises — they’re predictable things we forget to save for. A sinking fund spreads each one across the months before it’s due, so Christmas and the car service stop being emergencies. This sheet keeps every fund, its goal and its running total in view.

How to use it

  1. Print the PDF (US Letter or A4).
  2. List each fund and its goal amount with the date you’ll need it.
  3. Add a little each month, update the saved so far column, and tick it off when it’s fully funded.

Pairs well with: Savings Tracker · Monthly Budget Planner · Debt Payoff Tracker

Questions

What's a sinking fund?+

Money you save a little at a time for a known future cost — Christmas, car servicing, insurance, a holiday — so it never lands as a nasty one-off hit on the budget.

How many funds should I have?+

Start with the two or three that always seem to ambush you. The tracker has room to grow as you spot more of those predictable-but-forgotten expenses.
