Why this debt tracker works

Paying off debt is a long, invisible grind — and invisible progress is the easiest kind to give up on. This tracker makes it visible: assign each square a dollar value, colour one in every time you clear that amount, and the page fills up as the balance falls. Stick it on the fridge for a daily nudge.

How to use it

  1. Print the PDF (US Letter or A4) and write your debt and starting balance at the top.
  2. Decide what each square is worth so the grid adds up to your balance.
  3. Colour in a square for every payment. A full grid means a zero balance — and a very good day.

Pairs well with: Savings Tracker · Monthly Budget Planner · Bill Payment Tracker

Questions

Does this work for the debt snowball or avalanche method?+

Both. The tracker doesn't care which order you pay debts in — it just turns the total into a grid you fill in, so the progress stays visible whatever method you use.

What should each square be worth?+

Divide your balance into a round number of squares — say $100 or $500 each. Colour one in every time you pay that much off.
